On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 1:36 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle crash of an SUV near the 3300 block of South Mopac EXPY SB. One occupant that was traveling in the SUV, later identified as Johan Dominguez, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The other five occupants that were traveling in the SUV were also transported to a local hospital with varying injuries but non-life threatening. The driver was later identified as Johnathan J. Dominguez. He was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Driving While Intoxicated Child Passenger. Dominguez was booked into the Travis County Jail.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 40 fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 44 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 34 fatal crashes resulted in 35 deaths.
