On Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 9:58 p.m., Austin Fire Department (AFD), Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), and Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the 8900 block of N. Lamar Boulevard regarding a crash between three vehicles, one of which was an APD patrol vehicle.

A juvenile, later identified as Gracy Gomez Andres, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. An adult who was traveling with Gomez Andres was transported with non-life-threatening injuries, and an APD officer was transported with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, March 14, 2025, Gracy Gomez Andres, was pronounced deceased.

Two people who were traveling in the third vehicle were not injured.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the APD officer was responding to a Disturbance Hot Shot call where the caller reported that someone was about to be shot. While responding, the officer had his lights and sirens activated and the civilian vehicle pulled out in front of him from a private drive.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 16th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 20 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 12 fatal crashes resulted in 12 deaths.

These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
