Victim (Deceased):   Mario Palacios-Carrillo, Hispanic male, 5/8/1981

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:39 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call reporting a shooting at 1430 Frontier Valley Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an unresponsive male with apparent trauma to his body. The victim, later identified as Mario Palacios-Carrillo, was pronounced deceased on the scene at 10:56 p.m. Several individuals were seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation is still in the very early stages, but it appears the victim was shot by an unknown suspect who remains at large. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify any witnesses and suspects.

Investigators believe there may be witnesses to this incident and are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to come forward so detectives can further investigate. This case is being investigated as Austin's 44th homicide of 2025.
