On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 9600 block of N Lamar Boulevard.

The vehicle involved did not remain at the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 74th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 77 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 64 fatal crashes resulted in 69 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
