Deceased: Joseph Capulong Katigbak, Asian male, 8/28/1990
 
On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at approximately 5:55 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the intersection of West Cesar Chavez Street and Walter Seaholm Drive. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation. The pedestrian, who was later identified as Joseph Capulong Katigbak, was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased the following morning.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 92nd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 96 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 91 fatal crashes resulted in 97 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
