On Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 9:26 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a for a single-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of W Ben White Blvd SVRD WB. The driver of a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer was the only occupant in the vehicle. The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) also responded to the scene to attempt life saving measures on the driver.  The driver, later identified as Nickolas Paul Marchioni, was transported to South Austin Hospital and was pronounced deceased. 
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 1st fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 1 fatality. On the date of this crash in 2025, there were no fatal crashes reported.
