Due to expected winter weather, Austin Parks and Recreation is adjusting operations at various facilities beginning this Friday, January 23 and continuing through the weekend. The department is closely monitoring the forecast and may change operations further depending on conditions. City Pools and Splash Pads – Bartholomew, Colony Park and Springwoods pools will be closed on Friday, January 23. Barton Springs, Deep Eddy, and Big Stacy pools and Liz Carpenter Splash Pad will close at noon on Friday, January 23. Barton Springs Pool’s “swim at your own risk” will not be available. Pool operations are expected to resume when temperatures rise above freezing and staff can safely access the pools and de-winterize them.

Recreation Centers – Parque Zaragoza, Montopolis, Turner-Roberts, Northwest, George Morales and Gus Garcia recreation centers will close at 6 p.m., Friday, January 23. Centers will reopen either Monday, January 26, or Tuesday, January 27 at 1 p.m. depending on the weather.

Parks – The winterization and closure of the City parks’ restrooms and water fountains will begin on Friday, January 23, starting from outlying areas into the city center. Emma Long Metropolitan Park camping will be closed on Friday, January 23, through at least Tuesday, January 27, due to the water being shut off.

Athletic League Games and Rentals – Athletic league games and rentals are canceled beginning on Friday evening, January 23, through the weekend (January 24-25). Our maintenance staff will shut off water at Krieg Field and the Athletic offices on Friday afternoon.

Zilker Botanical Garden – Zilker Botanical Garden will be closed on Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25. The garden will reopen with a delayed start on Monday, January 26, depending on the weather.

Golf ATX – Most Golf ATX courses will close at 10 a.m., Friday, January 23, to cover course greens with the exception of Morris Williams and Clay/Kizer courses which will close early on Thursday, January 22 to cover greens. The last tee times at Morris Williams and Clay/Kizer courses will be at 11 a.m.
