November 4-8, 2024 is Austin Municipal Court Week. Learn more about the services they provide.

From November 4-8, 2024, the City of Austin Municipal Court (AMC) is celebrating the statewide Municipal Courts Week, which honors court staff and the public services they provide. AMC will be hosting information tables at Hope Fest and City Hall to answer questions and provide information to the public.

"For many people, the first direct interaction with the judicial system is with a municipal court,” said Kim Wingard, Deputy Clerk of the Court. “At Austin Municipal Court, we want people to feel that they have been listened to and treated fairly when they come to us so that we can build trust between the Court and the community.”

AMC invites Austinites to take Municipal Court Week as an opportunity to learn more about the wide variety of services provided by AMC, including options for resolving civil parking citations.

"in 2024, the Court saw an average of about 18,000 parking cases a month filed by various agencies throughout the city.  As Austin grows, parking continues to be a huge issue.  While the Court's role is only to adjudicate these cases, we want to make sure that our customers know they have options, whether that is contesting in person, via email, or virtually," said Isaac Hernandez, Hearing Officer, and supervisor of the Civil Administration unit.  “Even after a parking citation is past the allotted time to contest under ordinance, we work with folks to create payment plans that help prevent booting or towing. Municipal Court Week is a great time to check in and see if we can help.”

During Municipal Court Week, AMC will be hosting an information table at Hope Fest on November 2nd from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and another table at City Hall on Election Day, on November 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  AMC invites the public to come meet court staff, learn useful tips on traffic safety, and get answers to your questions on court services.
