Austin Police (APD) detectives are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a woman in connection with an auto theft and a collision involving injury.
On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m., a white 2011 Ford F-250 was stolen from a mechanic shop in the 7200 block of the U.S. Highway 290 Westbound Service Road.
The following morning, Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at approximately 7:40 a.m., the stolen truck was involved in a collision with a separate vehicle in the 7900 block of Research Boulevard Northbound. The driver of the truck left the scene without providing information and fled on a yellow bicycle taken from the truck’s bed. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Detectives believe the woman seen in surveillance video stealing the truck is the same person who fled the collision. APD is releasing the surveillance video in hopes someone may recognize the woman by her appearance, walk, or mannerisms.
The suspect is described as:
- Black or Hispanic female
- Approximately 45–50 years old
- Heavyset
- Crooked teeth
- Last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, jeans, and gray-and-white shoes
The suspect vehicle is described as:
- 2011 Ford F-250 pickup truck
- White in color
Anyone with information about this case or who recognizes the woman is asked to contact Austin Police. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
