APD Detectives Search for a Suspect in Connection to a Theft and Credit Card Abuse Case

The Austin Police (APD) Downtown Austin Rapid Response Team (DARRT) Unit is requesting the community’s assistance with identifying a suspect involved in a theft and credit card abuse case originating in the downtown area. This individual and case are linked to an ongoing series of thefts in Austin’s downtown entertainment district.
The suspects seem to be primarily targeting men leaving downtown bars, some in the Warehouse District, between midnight to 2:30 a.m., Suspects may engage in conversation with the victims and are using friendly/flirtatious rouses before committing the cell phone theft. Within a short timeframe after the theft, suspects, commit fraudulent criminal activities involving victims’ digital banking accounts accessed through the stolen cell phone.
This case is one of 14 confirmed cases linked to the same suspects.
The suspect is described as:
- Gender unknown
- Black
- Between 20-35 years of age
- Tattoo on the upper arm of a basketball with a "C" on it, balanced on a finger
