APD Operation Leads to Six Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Property

The Austin Police (APD) North Metro Tactical Unit has arrested six individuals and dismantled an organized criminal operation believed to be responsible for mail theft, identity fraud, narcotics offenses, and firearms violations.

The investigation began on Saturday, July 25, 2026, when officers located a stolen motorcycle at a business in the 1000 block of Reinli Street. Officers observed a male subject sit on the motorcycle and approached him. The suspect immediately fled on foot but was quickly detained and identified as 22-year-old Thaddeus Landeros.

During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm, counterfeit United States Postal Service (USPS) "Arrow Keys," a journal containing personal identifying information, and a collection of stolen bank cards.

Landeros was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Conduct Involving a Mail Receptacle Key or Lock, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (APD Case #26-2060040).

Evidence recovered during Landeros' arrest led investigators to identify a group of individuals residing at an apartment on Alpheus Avenue who were believed to be involved in mail theft and fraud.

On Monday, July 27, 2026, members of the North Metro Tactical Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the apartment complex. During the stop, officers seized various narcotics, a counterfeit USPS "Arrow Key," and additional evidence related to mail theft and fraud. Officers also recovered several pieces of unique sports memorabilia believed to have been stolen.

As a result of the traffic stop, officers arrested David Galvan, 46, and Dylan Mackey, 38, on multiple charges (APD Case #26-2080828).

Following the arrests, investigators executed a search warrant at the apartment, recovering a significant amount of evidence, including stolen mail, stolen bank cards, fraudulent identification cards, checks, a USPS lock, additional counterfeit "Arrow Keys," and approximately 300 pieces of personal identifying information (APD Case #26-5011006).

Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants charging six individuals with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, a First-Degree Felony. Investigators believe the suspects worked together to commit mail theft, identity fraud, and related offenses. All six suspects have since been arrested.
