Austin Police North Metro Tactical Unit Arrests Suspect in High Value Theft Series

On May 8, 2026, members of the Austin Police (APD) North Metro Tactical Unit received information related to a theft of purses at The Domain in Austin. The following day, officers identified the suspect of the theft as 44-year-old Bodesha Garner and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Bodesha was arrested on May 23, 2026.

Over the next several months, Bodesha was suspected in an ongoing series of high value thefts from various retailers throughout Austin. As a result, several warrants for her arrest were issued. In September 2026, members of the North Metro Tactical Unit began collaborating with local retailers to search for Bodesha, aiming to arrest her and put an end to these thefts.

On September 17, 2026, officers located Bodesha driving in North Austin and attempted to stop her. Bodesha refused to stop and evaded arrest.

On October 9, 2026, officers again located her driving near a hotel in North Austin. They attempted to stop her, but she evaded once more, this time driving through two fences to escape.

On October 14, 2026, Bodesha was featured in the Capital Area Crimestoppers Wanted Wednesday.

On October 21, 2026, officers found Bodesha driving a vehicle in North Austin and attempted to stop and arrest her. Despite another attempt at evasion, Bodesha was ultimately taken into custody for her outstanding warrants as well as new charges of Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Deadly Conduct.

Investigators and analysts are continuing to work with the Austin retail community to compile a list of outstanding cases involving Bodesha with additional charges expected.
