On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 4:42 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a request for assistance from St. Edward’s University, located at 3001 S. Congress Ave., after a student was found unresponsive in his residence hall. CPR was attempted, but the student, identified as 19-year-old Ethan Westgard, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 4:40 p.m. An autopsy was later performed, and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be the toxic effects of fentanyl, mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, alprazolam, buprenorphine, and gabapentin.

The investigation, conducted by the Narcotics Support Unit, showed Westgard died as a result of the narcotics provided to him by Jordan Breck and Alysia Rodriguez-Mabry.

On September 8, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Rodriguez and for Breck, each for First Degree Murder.

On September 16, 2026, Rodriguez-Mabry was located on Durwood Street in Austin, Texas, and arrested by the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.
