Homicide Investigation at 3200 Montopolis Drive

Victim (Deceased): Tyris Rivers, Black male, 1/21/2003

Suspect (Arrested): Jaquan Easley, Black male, 29 years of age

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 12:17 a.m., Austin Police (APD) Officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls that reported gunshots at 3200 Montopolis Drive. When officers arrived, they found the victim, Tyris Rivers, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:28 a.m.
 
Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded to the crime scene. The investigation has shown that the suspect, Jaquan Easley, shot Tyris Rivers after a physical altercation at a residence. Jaquan Easley remained at the scene and was arrested for murder.
