Homicide Investigation at 401 Dawson Road (Butler Metro Park)

Suspect (Arrested): Micah Delaney, White male, 30 years of age

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 12:06 a.m., Austin Police (APD) Officers responded to a Shoot/Stab Hotshot call at Butler Metro Park, located at 401 Dawson Road. A caller reported that a male subject had been stabbed in the chest. When officers arrived on scene, the victim was being treated by Austin-Travis Country Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) for trauma to his body. The victim, later identified as Vincent Bort, was pronounced deceased at 12:32 a.m. The suspect, later identified as Micah Delaney, had fled the scene prior to APD’s arrival. A short time later, Delaney called 9-1-1 on himself. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

APD Homicide Detectives and Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation had occurred at a homeless encampment in Butler Metro Park, leading to Delaney stabbing Bort.

Delaney was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.
