Homicide Investigation in the 4700 block of East Oltorf Street

Victim (Deceased):   Barton Skubi, White male, 10/08/1968

Suspect (Deceased): Kristin Standford, White female, 12/06/1973

On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 3:21 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a Check Welfare call in the 4700 block of East Oltorf Street. Upon entering the residence, officers located an adult female and an adult male deceased inside. The female was later identified as Kristin Standford, and the male was later identified as Barton Skubi. Both appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds, and they were pronounced deceased at 8:10 p.m.

APD Homicide Detectives and Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene. The investigation has shown that Standford shot and killed her husband, Mr. Skubi, before shooting and killing herself in the residence.
