On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 12:08 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a Shoot/Stab Hotshot call at Westdale Point Apartments located at 7117 Wood Hollow Drive. The caller reported someone had been shot. When officers arrived on the scene, they located one victim, later identified as Noah Talbott, with a gunshot wound to his head. Talbott was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, later identified as Waleed Beriji, had left the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed Talbott and Beriji had been involved in an argument regarding money. Talbott escorted Beriji to the front door of his apartment, when Beriji produced a handgun from his bag and shot Talbott in the head before leaving the scene.

APD officers later located Beriji and took him into custody in the 3000 block of South Congress Avenue. Beriji was booked into the Travis County Jail and was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On May 30, 2025, at approximately 2:22 p.m., Talbott was pronounced deceased. Beriji was subsequently charged with 1st Degree Murder.
