On Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:49 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a single motorcycle and a guardrail. The motorcyclist, later identified as Kim Bao Hoang, was traveling northbound at a high speed and failed to navigate the curve, striking the guardrail. Mr. Hoang was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 55th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 55 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 71 fatal crashes resulted in 75 deaths.
