On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 9:33 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision in the 1700 block of South Lamar Boulevard southbound lanes, involving a motor vehicle pulling a trailer and a pedestrian riding on a Lime E-bike. The individual riding the E-bike, identified as Celeste Garcia, was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased at 10:38 a.m. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on the scene, was not intoxicated, and is cooperating with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 60th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 61 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 74 fatal crashes resulted in 78 deaths.
