On Friday, March 27, 2026 at 3:03 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the 2600 block of W. Slaughter Lane. The collision involved a motorcycle which left the roadway. The rider of the motorcycle was the only occupant on the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased on scene.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 17th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 17 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 20 fatal crashes resulted in 24 deaths.
