On Friday, June 20, 2025, at 7:45 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 2800 block of Hancock Drive. The pedestrian, later identified as Claudia Gale Porter, was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on the scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation. 

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 46th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 50 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 34 fatal crashes resulted in 35 deaths.
