On Sunday, November 1, 2026, at approximately 12:52 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision that involved an unknown vehicle and a pedestrian in the 4100 block of S. 1st Street. The driver of the unknown vehicle did not stop or attempt to render aid to the victim. The pedestrian, an unidentified White female, was transported to a local area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 76th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 78 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 81 fatal crashes resulted in 85 deaths.
