Traffic Fatality in the 4100 block of South Congress Avenue

On May 20, 2025, at 11:44 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the reports of a crash that involved a pedestrian on a bike and an unknown vehicle in the 4100 block of South Congress Avenue. The driver of the unknown vehicle left the scene and did not stop to render aid or call 9-1-1. The cyclist, later identified as Bobby Wayne Carr, was transported to local hospital.
 
On June 9, 2025, Mr. Carr died from injuries he suffered as a result of the crash.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 42nd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 46 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 27 fatal crashes resulted in 27 deaths.
