On July 7, 2026, at 5:42 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in a wheelchair near the 500 Block of East Ben White Boulevard West Bound Service Road. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 42nd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 42 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 50 fatal crashes resulted in 54 deaths.
