On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 8:59 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 5600 block of N. IH-35 NB. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and pronounced deceased two days later, on Monday, July 27.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 45th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 45 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 55 fatal crashes resulted in 59 deaths.
