On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at approximately 4:06 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 7200 block of North IH 35 northbound. The driver and the passenger of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver, an unidentified male, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 29th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 29 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 28 fatal crashes resulted in 32 deaths.
