On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 9:58 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single motorcycle collision in the 7500 block of FM 969 Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they located the driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Joseph E. Carrington. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) performed life-saving measures, but unfortunately, Mr. Carrington was pronounced deceased on the scene at 10:14 p.m.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 36th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 40 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 31 fatal crashes resulted in 32 deaths.
