On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 1:27 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle collision located in the 7600 block of Guadalupe Street. The driver, later identified as Philip Weidner, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, Mr. Weidner was pronounced deceased days later.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 61st fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 65 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 50 fatal crashes resulted in 53 deaths.
