On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Austin Police (APD)   officers responded to a collision that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 8100 block of North IH 35 NB. The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 48th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 48 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 58 fatal crashes resulted in 62 deaths.
