On Thursday, October 29, 2026, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on a bicycle in the 8400 block of Loyola Lane. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The vehicle and its occupants remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 72nd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 74 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 80 fatal crashes resulted in 84 deaths.
