On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at approximately 9:59 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 900 block of the southbound Ed Bluestein Boulevard service road. The driver and front-seat passenger, later identified as Adan Rodriguez and Ruby Rodriguez were pronounced deceased on scene. The juvenile rear-seat passenger was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and remains in the intensive care unit.

Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, it left the service road and struck the concrete barrier separating the service road from the main lanes. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 69th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 70 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 77 fatal crashes resulted in 81 deaths.
