Traffic Fatality in the 9000 block of East Drive

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at 4:46 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle motor collision in the 9000 block of East Drive. Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) and Austin Fire (AFD) responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures on the driver, who has not yet been identified. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 32nd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 32 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 34 fatal crashes resulted in 38 deaths.
