On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 12:32 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle collision in about the 9200 block of E. US HWY 290 WB SVRD. The driver was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and pronounced deceased.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 44th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 44 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 50 fatal crashes resulted in 54 deaths.
