On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Austin Police (APD) patrol officers responded to a collision between a dump truck and a motorcycle located at the 9300 block of E. US 290 service road WB. Life saving measures were attempted by Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) and Austin Fire (AFD). The motorcycle rider, later identified as Steve Antonio Ruiz, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck remained on scene post collision.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 36th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 36 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 42 fatal crashes resulted in 46 deaths.
