On Friday, February 20th, 2026, at approximately 6:53 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 9300 block of Menchaca Road. The pedestrian, who was later identified as Jefferson Gustavo Ramirez Ramirez, was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased on March 6th. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 15th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 15 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, seven fatal crashes resulted in seven deaths.
