On Thursday, October 29, 2026, at approximately 2:17 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the parking lot of 9511 N. Lamar Blvd. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and instead left the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 71st fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 73 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 80 fatal crashes resulted in 84 deaths.
