On September 11, 2026, at 6:31 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the intersection of Ross Road and Saint Thomas Road. The pedestrian, who remains unidentified at this time, was transported to a local hospital and where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled from the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 58th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 58 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, 72 fatal crashes resulted in 76 deaths.
