On May 20, 2025, Lily Bao Do, 28 years of age, surrendered herself in connection with the traffic fatality that occurred in the 700 block of E 7th St. on May 11, 2025. The incident resulted in the death of Erica Garza who was pronounced deceased on May 16, 2025. Lily Do has been charged with Collision Involving Death and Collision Involving Injury.

On May 11, 2025, at approximately 4:59 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and three pedestrians in the 700 block of E 7th St. The vehicle involved left the scene heading northbound on the N IH-35 frontage road. Two male pedestrians had minor injuries, while the female pedestrian sustained serious injuries. All three were taken to a local hospital. The female pedestrian identified as Erica Garza was later pronounced decease on May 16, 2025.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 30th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 34 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 26 fatal crashes resulted in 26 deaths.
