UPDATE: Suspect arrested for the homicide in the 1000 block of Norwood Park Boulevard

Victim (Deceased): Jeffrey Grable, White male, 05/02/1960
Suspect (Arrested): Jesse C. Monroe II, Black male, 33 years old
UPDATE: On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Officers from the Austin Police (APD) Tactical Intelligence Unit identified the suspect in this homicide as: Jesse C. Monroe II. Monroe was later located in the 1000 Block of West Rundberg Lane and placed under arrest by the APD Tactical Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the APD Edward (Northeast) 300 patrol shift.
Monroe was transported to Travis County Jail and charged with Murder-First Degree Felony.

Victim (Deceased): Jeffrey Grable, White male, 05/02/1960
On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:17 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a call in the 1000 block of Norwood Park Boulevard reporting an individual on the ground bleeding. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a male, later identified as Jeffrey Grable, with apparent trauma to his body. Mr. Grable was pronounced deceased on scene at 5:34 a.m.
APD Homicide Detectives and Austin Forensic Science Crime Specialists responded to process the scene. The investigation showed that Mr. Grable had laid down near the bus stop several hours earlier. An unknown suspect later approached and assaulted him, causing his death, before fleeing the scene.
The suspect is described as:

- Black male
- In his 30s
- Approximately 6’0” tall
- Approximately 185 lbs.
- Last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, white shoes, and a backwards cap
