UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Homicide Investigation at 15424 FM 1825 Road

Arrested Suspect:  Kavontae Markail Williams, Black male, 32 years of age  
 
On September 3, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Kavontae Williams for First Degree Murder. On September 14, 2026 at approximately 5:24 p.m., the Austin Police Tactical Intelligence Unit, in coordination with the United States Marshal Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Williams in northeast Austin.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at approximately 1:31 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to the call of a shooting at Cajun Eats located at 15424 FM 1825. Officers arrived on the scene and located multiple subjects with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the subjects, later identified as Mykal Jones, was transported to a local hospital and he was pronounced deceased at 2:13 a.m. The other four gunshot victims were treated at various hospitals and are currently in stable condition.
 
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to the scene. The investigation is still ongoing, but preliminary information shows there was an altercation inside Cajun Eats which escalated into a shooting. Subjects fled the building, and shots were also fired outside. A cell phone video was taken by someone inside Cajun Eats and is currently available for public view via the above YouTube link.
 
We are requesting any information from anyone who was at Cajun Eats this morning or anyone with knowledge of the incident. Anyone with photos, videos, or other potential evidence is requested to share them with APD. You may submit materials by clicking here or scanning the QR code below.
