Austin Police (APD) detectives are requesting the community's help in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Monday, January 5, 2026, at approximately 2:02 a.m. APD officers responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 900 block of E Koenig. The pedestrian was later identified as Donna Michelle Hanson, who was pronounced deceased on scene.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, leaving behind several car parts consistent with a 1998-2000 BMW 323. A witness describes the vehicle as dark in color and indicates it was last seen traveling eastbound on Koenig Lane.

- Model: 1998-2000 BMW 323
- Color: Dark
- Possible collision damage to the left side
- Left headlight/signal light may be broken or taped

On Monday, January 5, at 2:02 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 900 block of E Koenig Lane. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) responded to perform life-saving measures on the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased on scene. The vehicle involved in the incident fled the area.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 3rd fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 3 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, there were no fatal crashes reported.
