Austin Fire and the Office of the Fire Marshal issue several permits related to public assemblies, hazardous materials, and more.
Permits offered
- Public Assembly
The Annual Public Assembly permit is required for public establishments who participate or operate at an occupancy rate of 50 or more people, and whose gross sales constitute 51% alcohol.
- Fire Protection Systems Program
Fire protection systems in commercial buildings must comply with City ordinances. Verification of fire system compliance must be submitted by third-party inspection companies through The Compliance Engine. Please visit AFD Permits | AustinTexas.gov for more information.
- Prescribed Burns
The Austin Fire Department supports the use of prescribed burns for forest and range management, ecological restoration, and training purposes where and when appropriate.
