Welcome to Austin Fire Explorers Post 370!

Austin Fire is proud to partner with the Capitol Area Council: Scouting America to bring the Explorers Post 370 to the community!

Meetings: Members of our post meet on weekends. In addition to regular session meetings, there will be volunteer opportunities.

Ages: Austin Fire Explorers Post 370 is a co-ed program open to those 14 through 19 years of age.

Curriculum: Explorers will learn basic firefighting, rescue, and EMS skills, and will be introduced to firefighter culture through training and skills. Explorers are issued firefighting gear and safety equipment, and work with members of Austin Fire in the same facilities used to train our professional firefighters.

Expectations: Positive attitude, adventurous spirit, and being ready to get sweaty and dirty!

The Explorer Program builds personal and career development skills, setting participants up for success across the board. Participants who pursue a career in the fire service will benefit from the knowledge, experience, and networking tools gained through the Explorer program.

Austin Fire Explorers Post 370 is an Equal Opportunity program. Participating in the Austin Fire Explorer program does not have affect standing in any future Austin Fire cadet hiring process.

Our focus is on teamwork, leadership skills and supporting participant's performance in the Explorer Fire Games. We challenge our teams in two competitions each year: the DFW Fire Games in Rowlett in the Spring and the SAFD Explorers Fire Games in San Antonio in the fall.

What sort of commitment will you be making?

We meet one day each weekend for several weeks leading up to the competition

Physical expectations:

Explorers should expect a certain amount of physical activity during the program. But don’t be discouraged from applying if you don’t feel you’re in the best physical condition; no one will be excluded from this program based on their perceived fitness level.
