Water & Wastewater Commission
The City of Austin’s Water and Wastewater Commission reviews and analyzes the policies and resources relating to Austin Water. The Commission assists the city council in insuring the Austin Water customers have safe, reliable, high quality, sustainable and affordable water services.
Each year the Commission develops a work plan setting out its goals, objectives and actions for:
- Water supply distribution
- Water demand and conservation management
- Wastewater treatment and collection
- Water quality
- Service area master planning and capital improvement project development
- Operating budget
- Rates and fees, and
- Community education

Austin Water is led by Director Shay Roalson, PE. Reporting to the Director are the Assistant Directors of Business Services, Customer Experience, Employee Leadership & Development, Engineering Services, Environmental Planning & Development Services, Finance, and Operations, as well as the Chief Information Officer.
