Build a custom ceramic mask in this hands-on workshop with Dougherty Arts Center resident and exhibiting ceramics artist Minnie Rogers. Learn how to transform simplified clay shapes into detailed facial features and create your very own quasi-realistic style mask! You’ll leave this free workshop with essential hand-building skills, such as structural shaping, smoothing and blending. Masks will be fired, glazed, and ready for you to return and pick up in a couple weeks!
This workshop is Free, but registration is required.
About Minnie Rogers:
Madeline “Minnie” Rogers is a recent graduate (BFA, Studio Art, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor) and quasi-medical interdisciplinary narrative artist, with a focus on mixed-media ceramics and 2D illustration. With a strong focus on hand-building, slip casting, and watercolor, she brings to life narratives from the world around her. Her journey through hospitals and artistic mediums has led her to behold a great love of clay. From art therapy to art production, she is excited about continuing to use clay as a bridge between different stories and people.
