- Military Service
Austin-Travis County EMS proudly employs U.S. Military veterans and reservists. We value your service and offer specific benefits for those with military backgrounds, including experience credit during hiring and 15 days of paid military leave annually for active duties.
- Peer Support
The ATCEMS Peer Support Team helps employees manage work stress, burnout, and critical incidents. Using active listening and problem-solving, trained team members assist colleagues in navigating the challenges of first responder life. They are especially focused on providing immediate support and resources in the aftermath of traumatic events.
- Wellness
The City of Austin’s Public Safety Wellness Center helps medics balance the demands of duty and home life. A team of medical, fitness, and mental health professionals, including staff psychologists, provides annual assessments, training, and interventions. This comprehensive program is designed to support the lifelong health and wellbeing of our first responders.
- Rider/Observer Program
The ATCEMS Rider/Observer Program offers a firsthand look at our department and medical system. To join, simply submit an application for review, which includes a background check. An EMS representative will contact you regarding your eligibility and provide next steps if you are approved.
