César Chávez Street Renaming Community Meetings 

The City of Austin is inviting community members to share their thoughts about a possible change to the name of César Chávez Street. The City will host three community meetings where attendees can learn about the history of the street, how the renaming process works, and what a name change could mean for residents and nearby businesses. Meetings include both in-person and virtual options. 

Meeting Dates: 

• Tuesday, August 11, 5–7 p.m. – Austin Central Library, 710 W César Chávez St
• Saturday, August 15, 2–4 p.m. – Sanchez Elementary School, 73 San Marcos St 

• Tuesday, August 18, 6–8 p.m. – Virtual Zoom Webinar

Community members are also encouraged to complete the online survey if they cannot attend a meeting. The City will use input from the meetings and survey to help inform City Council’s decision.
