Understanding Drainage Requirements for Residential Infill Development

This class will explore the permitting of small-scaled housing, including HOME 1, HOME -2, and the Residential Infill Ordinance.

Small-scaled housing in Austin has a long and interesting history, sometimes facing more challenges than building conventional single-family, duplex home, or apartment complex. 

In March 2025, the City Council approved an ordinance changing the way drainage was regulated on smaller properties for re-subdivisions and “site plan lite” multifamily projects with up to 16 units. This class will explore this history and detail the new regulatory environment, including HOME 1, HOME -2, and the Residential Infill Ordinance.
