Community Invited to Fiesta de Salud Health Fair Sept. 19

Public Health Fair Attendance Increases from Past Years. 

The City of Austin and Austin Public Health (APH) invite everyone to the FREE Fiesta de Salud Health Fair on Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (600 River Street, Austin, TX 78701).  

The annual event aims to inspire our communities to live well and improve access to health services and resources, all while having fun. With a spotlight on Hispanic/Latino culture, organizers will provide live entertainment, community resources, health screenings, and more.  Over the last three years, more than 800 individuals have received services.  

“Fiesta de Salud feels right at home at the Mexican American Cultural Center, where art, history, and Austinites can come together in a celebration of health,” said Austin Public Health Director Adrienne Sturrup. “Providing free health services in a festive way to the community reduces the barriers to living a healthy life, something we all deserve.”  

In the 2025 Chronic Disease Report, social and economic factors largely contribute to a high diabetes rate in the Hispanic and Black population. Also, due to the same factors, Hispanics have a higher rate of dying of chronic liver disease with 68% of Hispanic adults overweight or obese.

Fiesta de Salud is one of three annual events designed to encourage our community to take proactive steps to manage their health. This is a FREE health screening event. Everyone is welcome, regardless of insurance.
