Join the Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment’s Old Bakery and Emporium for the Fourth Annual Midsummer Festival on Saturday, June 7th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Old Bakery and Emporium, 1006 Congress Ave. The Midsummer Festival is free to attend and provides family-friendly fun for all ages.

The festival includes a traditional flower crown-making station, face painting, a DJ set by DJ Boozwa, live music by local Austin band The Norrsken Three, and more. “Norrsken” is Swedish for Northern Lights. The Norrsken Three explore a variety of traditional and contemporary Swedish and Scandinavian songs.

Traditional Swedish treats and coffee from local bakery The Fika Table and popsicles from Mom & Pop’s All Natural Frozen Pops will be available to purchase. In Swedish culture, “Fika” is a daily cultural tradition in which people stop working and spend time with colleagues, neighbors and friends over coffee and sweets – so we invite you to “Fika” with us!

The Old Bakery & Emporium was built in 1876 by Swedish immigrant Charles Lundberg. Midsummer, or Midsommar, is a traditional Swedish holiday celebrating the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. The Old Bakery hosts the Midsummer Festival as a tribute to the building’s Swedish-American heritage.

Our Fine Art Gallery features the work of local artists who are 50+ years old.
